U/1ST desfila en Nueva York Fashion Week con Amir Taghi

U/1ST walks the runway at New York Fashion Week with Amir Taghi

12.12.2025

Last September, we attended New York Fashion Week, backstage at the show of the Texan designer who has conquered the international scene with his vision of elegant, contemporary femininity.

The beauty proposal, created by make-up artist Virginia Vera, was inspired by the 1970s and the iconic Iranian singer and actress Googoosh, considered a cultural diva in the Middle East and a symbol of freedom and modernity in that decade.

Seventies-inspired beauty. Freedom. Naturalness. Empowerment

The inspiration behind the make-up created for  Amir Taghi's fashion show goes hand in hand with that of the designer himself, whose muse was Googoosh. ‘The 1970s were a decade of freedom, individuality and female empowerment. We wanted to reflect that essence with an elegant and sophisticated look to accompany the collection,’ explains Virginia Vera, make-up artist for the show.

Clean skin and an empowered gaze

The look sought to strike a balance between naturalness and strength: fresh, healthy skin, neutral lips and a powerful gaze framed by thick eyelashes. ‘We created luminous, clean skin that conveyed elegance, accompanied by natural lips and thick eyelashes that gave power to the feminine gaze,’ says Virginia Vera.

Healthy minimalism: the clean look trend

The make-up artist emphasises that the current trend, known as the clean look, is linked to a sophisticated style and an awareness of skin care: ‘Minimalist make-up is not just about aesthetics. Healthy, clean skin looks truly beautiful, and that is what we look for in models: sophistication and an awareness of skin health’.

Mascara in the spotlight

Of all the U/1ST products, Multiactive Treatment Black Mascara stood out as the best ally for achieving the desired finish: ‘Its brush allowed us to easily apply layers until we achieved thick, defined lashes, something that is much more difficult with other products,’ notes make-up artist Virginia Vera.

Hybrid makeup with active ingredients: philosophy and care on the runway

Beyond the aesthetic result, Virginia Vera highlights the importance of working with treatment make-up, especially in demanding environments such as backstage at a fashion show: ‘Choosing make-up with active ingredients is almost a philosophy of life. We not only beautify the skin, we also care for it. On the catwalk, where models are subjected to excessive make-up, having products that protect and benefit the skin is truly a luxury.’

The show’s beauty tip

‘If I had to sum up this look in one piece of advice, it would be: clean, healthy skin accompanied by very heavy eyelashes. That contrast is enough to achieve elegance and sophistication,’ concludes Virginia Vera.
